Ingredients:
- 8 slices (225 g) Streaky Bacon Rashers (standard cut)
- 1 slice Bread (optional, for catching drippings and minimizing smoke)
- Pinch Black Pepper (optional, freshly ground)
Instructions:
- Pre-heat the Air Fryer: If your model requires pre-heating, set the temperature to 180°C (350°F) and allow it to run for 3 minutes.
- Prepare the Drip Tray (Smoke Control): Place the slice of bread or a small amount of water (about 1/4 cup / 60 ml) directly into the bottom drawer or tray beneath the cooking basket to absorb rendering fat and prevent smoke.
- Prep the Bacon: Lay the rashers out and lightly pat them dry with a paper towel. This step is essential to remove excess moisture and promote maximum crispness.
- Load the Basket: Arrange the bacon rashers in a single, non-overlapping layer in the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary, as overlapping will result in uneven, chewy patches.
- Initial Cook: Cook at 180°C (350°F) for 5 minutes.
- Flip: Using tongs, carefully turn each rasher over.
- Continue Cooking & Crisp: Increase the temperature slightly to 200°C (400°F). Cook for another 3 to 7 minutes, checking frequently after the 3-minute mark. The bacon is done when the fat is transparent and the edges are deep golden brown and crispy to your preference.
- Drain and Rest: Remove the bacon immediately using tongs and transfer the rashers to a plate lined with fresh paper towels to drain off any residual grease.
- Serve: Season with a pinch of black pepper if desired, and serve immediately as part of a Full English or in a sandwich.
