Ingredients:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes (about 700g / 1.5 lbs), peeled and cut into 1/2-inch thick fries
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (4g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (1g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (1g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (1g), or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (1g), or to taste

Instructions:

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into even 1/2-inch thick fries. Aim for consistency for even cooking.
  2. Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch for crispier results. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the dried sweet potato fries with olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Ensure the fries are evenly coated.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. You may need to cook them in batches.
  5. Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are tender on the inside and golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  6. Remove the air fryer sweet potato fries from the air fryer and serve immediately with your favourite dipping sauce.
