Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes until the sugar is mostly dissolved.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the ground beef in a flat layer and leave undisturbed for 2–3 minutes to form a dark crust. Flip and crumble the meat, cooking until no pink remains.
- Push the beef to the sides of the pan to create a clearing in the center. Add the minced ginger and garlic, sautéing for 30–60 seconds until fragrant and golden.
- Pour the prepared glaze over the beef. Stir constantly for 2–3 minutes until the sauce bubbles and reduces to a velvety coating. Remove from heat immediately.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
