Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks, 226 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165 g) brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 g) salt
  • 2 cups (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (100 g) chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
  6. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to portion dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers appear slightly underbaked.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
