Ingredients:
- 2 cups (475 ml) unsweetened almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
- 2 tablespoons (12 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey), to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
- Optional toppings: coconut whipped cream, a sprinkle of cocoa powder, mini marshmallows (if you're feeling naughty!)
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, whisk together almond milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, and salt.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Whisk constantly until the mixture is heated through, smooth, and steaming (but not boiling).
- Taste the hot cocoa and add more maple syrup (or honey) if desired, whisking to incorporate.
- Pour the healthy hot cocoa into mugs and top with your favorite toppings. Enjoy immediately!
