Ingredients:
- 1 pound (454g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 1 packet (approx. 1 ounce/28g) taco seasoning mix (low sodium preferred)
- ½ cup (120ml) water
- 1 cup (113g) shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 (13.8 ounce/391g) can refrigerated pizza dough
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
- Optional: 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional: Sesame seeds for topping
Instructions:
- Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in ½ cup cheddar cheese. Let cool slightly.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unroll pizza dough on a lightly floured surface.
- Brush the dough with olive oil. Sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano. Spread the taco filling evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with remaining ½ cup cheddar cheese.
- Cut the dough into 12 even strips (about 1-inch wide). Twist each strip 2-3 times to create a spiral shape.
- Place twisted sticks on the prepared baking sheet. If using, brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the sticks cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving. Enjoy your Cheesy Taco Sticks!
