Ingredients:
- 1 cup (190g) steel cut oats
- 4 cups (946ml) water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (50g) packed brown sugar (or maple syrup to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional)
- Toppings: fresh fruit, chopped nuts, honey, milk or cream
Instructions:
- Add steel cut oats, water, salt, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and butter (if using) to the Instant Pot. Stir to combine.
- Secure the lid of the Instant Pot, ensuring the steam release valve is in the 'Sealing' position.
- Select the 'Manual' or 'Pressure Cook' setting and set the cook time for 5 minutes on high pressure.
- Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, carefully quick release any remaining pressure by moving the steam release valve to the 'Venting' position.
- Remove the lid and stir the oats well. The mixture will thicken as it cools slightly. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
