Ingredients:

  • 1 lb large Carrots, peeled, tops removed
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil (or Avocado Oil)
  • ½ tsp Coarse Sea Salt
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • Pinch Chilli Powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and Peel the carrots, trimming off the tops and tips. Slice the carrots into uniform, chip-sized batons, aiming for approximately ¼ inch (6 mm) thick. Pat the carrot batons very dry using a clean tea towel or paper towels. This step is crucial for crispiness.
  2. Place the dried carrot batons into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with the olive oil and toss until lightly coated. Sprinkle in the sea salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and chili powder (if using). Toss until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Carefully transfer the seasoned carrots to the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; ensure they are in a single layer, cooking in batches if necessary.
  4. Cook the fries for 8 minutes at 400°F (200°C). Open the basket and give the fries a vigorous shake to redistribute them. Return the basket and cook for an additional 7–10 minutes, or until the fries are tender on the inside, golden brown, and visibly crispy on the edges. (Total cook time is 15–18 minutes.)
  5. Check for doneness and seasoning. Transfer the hot carrot fries to a serving bowl immediately. Serve right away while they are at their crunchiest, optionally garnished with flaky sea salt or fresh parsley.
