Ingredients:

  • 14 oz (400g) firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (or arrowroot powder)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (or honey)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Drain and press tofu to remove excess moisture. Cut tofu into cubes or slices (your choice).
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, and maple syrup.
  4. Place tofu in the marinade, ensuring even coating. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss marinated tofu in the spice mixture until coated.
  6. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper (if using) and arrange tofu in a single layer. Drizzle olive oil over tofu. Bake tofu in oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
