Ingredients:
- 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
- Peel and thinly slice the yellow onions into rings.
- Place sliced onions in a large bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let soak for 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove onions from buttermilk and let excess liquid drip off. Toss in the flour mixture until well coated.
- Carefully add a handful of coated onions to hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove onions and transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Enjoy immediately as a garnish or topping for your favorite dishes.
