Ingredients:
- 2 cups (480 ml) whole milk
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 4 oz (113 g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of sea salt
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream for whipped cream
- 2 tablespoons (30 g) powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for whipped cream
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine milk and heavy cream. Warm over medium-low heat until hot but not boiling.
- Add chopped chocolate to the warm milk mixture. Whisk until the chocolate has melted and is fully combined.
- Stir in granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Adjust sweetness as desired.
- In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract for whipped cream. Whip until soft peaks form.
- Pour hot chocolate into mugs. Top generously with whipped cream and optional cocoa powder or shaved chocolate.
