Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • Whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, mix together the milk and water over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt until fully dissolved.
  3. Continue to heat the mixture, stirring periodically until it’s steaming but not boiling.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and chocolate chips until melted and well combined.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream if desired.
