Ingredients:

  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (480 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (15 g)
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (15 ml) or honey, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (2.5 ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (1.25 g)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Whipped coconut cream or Greek yogurt for topping (optional)
  • Dark chocolate shavings or cocoa nibs for topping (optional)
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon or mini marshmallows for topping (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan, pour in the almond milk and heat over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
  2. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and whisk until fully dissolved.
  3. Stir in the maple syrup (or honey), vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Continue to heat for another 2-3 minutes, whisking occasionally until steaming, but not boiling.
  5. Pour into mugs and top with your desired toppings.
