Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 4-5 tablespoons ice water
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., Gruyère or cheddar)
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- ½ cup cooked bacon or ham, diced (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Instructions:
- Combine flour and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in butter until crumbly.
- Gradually add ice water until dough forms.
- Roll out and place in pie dish, then chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Blind bake the crust for 10 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and cream.
- Stir in cheese, vegetables, meat, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Mix until well combined.
- Pour filling into the pre-baked crust.
- Smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes until set and golden.
- Cool slightly before slicing.
