Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) lukewarm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
  • ¼ cup (57g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, warm the milk until lukewarm. Sprinkle the yeast and 1 tablespoon of the sugar over the milk. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Add the remaining sugar, salt, melted butter, and egg to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough to release the air. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  9. Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush with melted butter.
  10. Let the rolls cool slightly in the pan before serving. Enjoy this easy dinner rolls recipe!
