Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240 ml) lukewarm milk
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast
- ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon (6g) salt
- ¼ cup (57g) unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, warm the milk until lukewarm. Sprinkle the yeast and 1 tablespoon of the sugar over the milk. Let stand for 5-10 minutes, or until foamy.
- Add the remaining sugar, salt, melted butter, and egg to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour, one tablespoon at a time.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough to release the air. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a smooth ball.
- Place the rolls in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
- Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush with melted butter.
- Let the rolls cool slightly in the pan before serving. Enjoy this easy dinner rolls recipe!
