Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups (192g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon (3g) baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon (3g) salt
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (50g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Pour the melted butter into the dry ingredients and stir until combined. Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar, and stir until well mixed.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the bowl. Stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough (or use a cookie scoop) onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between cookies.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
