Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) long-grain white rice
- 2 cups (475ml) water
- 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
- 1 tablespoon (14g) unsalted butter or olive oil (optional)
Instructions:
- Place the rice in a fine-mesh sieve and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear.
- Add the rinsed rice, water, salt, and butter/oil (if using) to a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a rapid boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan tightly, and simmer for 18 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this time!
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5-10 minutes.
- Gently fluff the rice with a fork to separate the grains.
- Serve immediately or keep warm. This is the perfect white rice recipe.
