Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (225g) spaghetti or other pasta
- 4 tablespoons (56g) unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) reserved pasta water
- 1/4 cup (30g) grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for serving
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, according to package directions. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water before draining.
- While pasta cooks, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using); sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce. Toss to coat.
- Add reserved pasta water to skillet; toss to create a light sauce. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan. Serve immediately. This is the best Garlic butter pasta recipe!
