Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces (225g) spaghetti or other pasta
  • 4 tablespoons (56g) unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) reserved pasta water
  • 1/4 cup (30g) grated Parmesan cheese, plus extra for serving
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, according to package directions. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. While pasta cooks, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using); sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce. Toss to coat.
  4. Add reserved pasta water to skillet; toss to create a light sauce. Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan. Serve immediately. This is the best Garlic butter pasta recipe!
