Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks or 227g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, minced (or roasted)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground)

Instructions:

  1. Roast Garlic (Optional): Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Wrap garlic bulb in foil with a drizzle of olive oil. Roast for 40-45 minutes, or until soft and fragrant. Let cool, then squeeze out the roasted garlic cloves.
  2. Prepare Ingredients: Ensure butter is softened. Finely chop all herbs. Mince garlic (or squeeze out roasted garlic). Zest lemon (if using).
  3. Combine Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic (or roasted garlic), parsley, chives, thyme, lemon zest (if using), salt, and pepper.
  4. Mix Well: Use a fork or spatula to thoroughly combine all ingredients until evenly distributed to create perfect garlic herb butter.
  5. Shape & Chill (Optional): Place the butter mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Shape into a log or block. Wrap tightly and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.
  6. Serve & Enjoy: Slice and serve the garlic herb butter as desired.
