Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and trim the green beans. Ensure they are dry.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  3. Add the green beans to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until the green beans are tender-crisp and slightly browned (about 7-8 minutes).
  4. If using, stir in the lemon juice during the last minute of cooking. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve immediately.
