Ingredients:
- ½ cup (45g) Rolled Oats
- 1 cup (240ml) Water or Milk
- Pinch of Salt
- ½ teaspoon Brown Sugar or Maple Syrup
- ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon (Optional)
- 1 teaspoon Butter (Optional)
Instructions:
- Toast the Oats (Optional): Place rolled oats in a dry saucepan over medium heat. Toast, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly golden, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the toasted (or untoasted) oats, water or milk, salt, brown sugar/maple syrup, and cinnamon to the saucepan (or microwave-safe bowl).
- Cook (Stovetop): Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the oats have absorbed most of the liquid and reached your desired consistency.
- Cook (Microwave): Microwave on high for 1 minute. Stir well. Microwave for another 1-2 minutes, checking and stirring every 30 seconds, until desired consistency is reached. Be careful - it can bubble over!
- Finish and Serve: Stir in the butter (if using). Transfer to a bowl and add your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
