Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) baby onions, peeled (preferably pearl onions)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
- ½ cup (120 ml) mayonnaise
- 1 cup (packed) fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Peel the baby onions and soak in water for 15-30 minutes (optional: helps to soften). Drain and pat dry.
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss the onions until well coated.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Thread the baby onions onto skewers for easier grilling (optional).
- Place onions on the grill for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally until charred and tender.
- In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, basil, lemon juice, and garlic. Whisk until smooth; season with salt and pepper.
- Serve grilled onions warm with a generous dipping of creamy basil sauce.
