Ingredients:
- 4 portions Cuban Bread or Italian Loaf (about 1.5 lbs total)
- 8 oz Smoked Deli Turkey, sliced thin
- 6 oz Deli Ham (Black Forest or Virginia), sliced thin
- 4 oz Swiss Cheese, sliced (4 thick slices)
- 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter, softened, divided
- 4 tsp Yellow Mustard
- 1/4 cup Dill Pickles, sliced lengthwise
Instructions:
- Slice the Cuban bread lengthwise to create four separate sandwiches, ensuring the halves remain intact (hinged) if using a loaf.
- Using 1 tablespoon of softened butter per sandwich, lightly coat the outside surfaces of both halves of the bread. This facilitates crisping during the press.
- On the inside of the bottom half of the bread, spread 1 teaspoon of yellow mustard.
- Build the sandwich layers: Start with the deli ham, followed by the smoked deli turkey, then top with the Swiss cheese slices. Finish by arranging the dill pickle slices evenly over the cheese.
- Heat a large, heavy skillet or a panini press over medium heat.
- Place the sandwich onto the heated surface. Use a second heavy object (like another skillet or a bacon press) to firmly press the sandwich down. Cook for 5 minutes, pressing frequently, until the bread is deeply golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Flip the sandwich and continue pressing for another 5 minutes, ensuring both sides achieve maximum crunch.
- Remove the sandwich, slice diagonally, and serve immediately.
