Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 3 cloves (15g) fresh garlic, finely minced or pressed
  • 2 tbsp (8g) fresh Italian parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp (3g) fresh chives, finely snipped
  • 1 tsp (1g) fresh thyme leaves, stripped from the stem
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp (0.5g) freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 pinch (0.1g) lemon zest

Instructions:

  1. Place the softened butter in a medium mixing bowl and cream it slightly with a rubber spatula until smooth and pliable.
  2. Fold in the minced garlic, chopped parsley, chives, and thyme. Stir gently until the butter is evenly speckled with herbs.
  3. Add the kosher salt, black pepper, and lemon zest, mixing until completely integrated.
  4. Spoon the mixture onto parchment paper and roll it into a tight cylindrical log approximately 2 inches in diameter.
  5. Twist the ends of the parchment paper to seal the log and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up and allow flavors to marry.
