Ingredients:
- 4 (6-ounce/170g) salmon fillets, skin on or off
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 teaspoon)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) water (if needed)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) chopped green onions (scallions) (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Lightly brush with olive oil, season with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger (if using), and red pepper flakes (if using). Add water if the glaze is too thick.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
- Place salmon fillets skin-side down (if using skin) on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and brush generously with the honey-garlic glaze.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 4-7 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). The glaze should be slightly caramelized.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
