Ingredients:
- 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls, such as King's Hawaiian (about 12 oz / 340g)
- 6 oz (170g) thinly sliced cooked ham (e.g., Black Forest, Honey Ham)
- 4 oz (113g) thinly sliced Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, for greasing the griddle
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Maple syrup, for dipping (optional)
- Strawberry jam, for dipping (optional)
Instructions:
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half, keeping the top and bottom bun sections together.
- Spread Dijon mustard evenly on the bottom half of the rolls. Layer ham and Swiss cheese over the mustard. Replace the top half of the rolls.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Gently place the assembled sliders into the egg custard, making sure both the top and bottom of the rolls are well saturated. Soak for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute.
- Melt butter on a preheated griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Carefully transfer the soaked sliders to the hot griddle.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove the sliders from the griddle and place them on a serving platter. Dust generously with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm with maple syrup or strawberry jam for dipping, if desired.
