  • 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the tomato sauce, water, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt into the saucepan.
  3. Whisk or stir until all ingredients are fully combined.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and reduce the heat to low.
  5. Allow the sauce to cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.
