Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground lamb or beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup (150g) frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 pounds (900g) potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup (120ml) milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Boil peeled potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk until creamy; season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, sauté diced onion and garlic until translucent. Add ground lamb or beef; cook until browned. Stir in carrots; cook for a few minutes until slightly softened. Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, peas, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish. Top with mashed potatoes, smoothing it out with a spatula. Use a fork to create texture on the top.
  4. Place in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Serve hot and enjoy!
