Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs beef stew meat or beef chuck, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 packet (0.87 oz) brown gravy mix
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Pat the beef tips dry with paper towels. This helps in browning if you choose to sear them first.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add a tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the beef tips in batches and sear until browned on all sides; this step enhances flavor but can be skipped if pressed for time.
  3. Once browned, transfer the meat to your crock pot. Add diced onions, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms evenly over the top.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine beef broth and brown gravy mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the gravy mixture over the meat and vegetables in the crock pot. If using Worcestershire sauce, add it now as well.
  6. Season with salt and pepper according to your preference.
  7. For Low Setting: Cover and cook for about 8 hours. For High Setting: Cover and cook for about 4 hours.
