Ingredients:

  • 1.5 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup low-sodium vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash and trim the ends of the green beans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the trimmed green beans with olive oil, butter, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, broth, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the green bean mixture into the slow cooker, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, stirring halfway through for even cooking.
  5. Once cooked, stir in lemon juice and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
