Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 0.5 lb ground pork
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 24 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Gently mix with your hands until just combined, avoiding overworking the meat.
  2. Scoop approximately 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll into golf-ball-sized spheres. Place the meatballs in the slow cooker in a single layer or slightly overlapping.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the crushed tomatoes, water, brown sugar, oregano, and onion powder.
  4. Pour the sauce evenly over the meatballs. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and cook on Low for 6 hours or High for 3 hours until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce has thickened.
