Ingredients:

  • 1 baguette, thinly sliced (about 1/4 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 ounces (115g) smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • Optional garnishes: fresh dill sprigs, lemon wedges, capers, red onion (finely diced)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brush baguette slices with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, dill, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until smooth and fully combined.
  4. Spread a generous amount of cream cheese mixture onto each toasted baguette slice.
  5. Arrange smoked salmon slices artfully on top of the cream cheese.
  6. Garnish with fresh dill sprigs, lemon wedges, capers and/or red onion (if desired). Serve immediately.
