Ingredients:

  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 6 cups)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (to thicken)
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (1 stick)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional: walnuts or pecans)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss the apples thoroughly to coat them in the mixture.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture to one of your NutriChef 3-piece nonstick kitchen oven baking pans. Ensure the apples are evenly distributed.
  4. In another mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and chopped nuts if using.
  5. Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  6. Evenly distribute the crisp topping over the apple mixture in the baking pan, making sure to cover all parts of the apples.
  7. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
  8. Optional: For extra crispiness, broil on high for the last 2–3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  9. Remove the apple crisp from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm, and enjoy!
