Ingredients:
- 6 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 6 cups)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (to thicken)
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional: walnuts or pecans)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss the apples thoroughly to coat them in the mixture.
- Transfer the apple mixture to one of your NutriChef 3-piece nonstick kitchen oven baking pans. Ensure the apples are evenly distributed.
- In another mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and chopped nuts if using.
- Pour in the melted butter and stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Evenly distribute the crisp topping over the apple mixture in the baking pan, making sure to cover all parts of the apples.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35–45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
- Optional: For extra crispiness, broil on high for the last 2–3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Remove the apple crisp from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm, and enjoy!
