Ingredients:
- All-purpose flour: 2 cups (250g)
- Baking powder: 1 teaspoon (5g)
- Salt: ½ teaspoon (3g)
- Plain yogurt: ¾ cup (170g)
- Milk: ¼ cup (60ml) + more if needed
- Melted unsalted butter or Ghee: 2 tablespoons (30g)
- Melted unsalted butter or Ghee: For brushing (approximately 2 tablespoons / 30g)
- Optional toppings: Nigella seeds, chopped cilantro, sea salt flakes
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the yogurt and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 2-3 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Add a touch more milk if the dough is too dry.
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for at least 10 minutes (up to 30 minutes).
- Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into an oval or round shape, about ¼ inch thick.
- Heat a non-stick frying pan or griddle over medium heat.
- Place one naan in the hot pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown spots appear.
- Brush each naan with melted butter or ghee and sprinkle with optional toppings. Serve immediately.
