Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe avocados (about 500g total), Hass preferred
  • 1/2 small white onion, finely diced (about 50g)
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped (packed)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (about 30ml)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (about 3g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (about 1g) (optional, but adds a nice depth)
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions:

  1. Halve the avocados, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into the mixing bowl.
  2. Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados to your desired consistency (some like it chunky, some like it smooth!).
  3. Stir in the diced onion and minced jalapeno pepper.
  4. Add the chopped cilantro, lime juice, salt, cumin (if using), and cayenne pepper (if using).
  5. Gently stir all ingredients together until well combined.
  6. Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasonings as needed, adding more salt, lime juice, or jalapeno to your preference.
  7. Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate for up to 2 hours to prevent browning.
