Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup vodka
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- If desired, heat olive oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent (about 3-5 minutes), then stir in minced garlic for an additional minute until fragrant.
- In the slow cooker, add crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, vodka, cooked onions and garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Stir the mixture until well combined.
- Cover the slow cooker and set it to low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.
- Serve over cooked pasta, garnished with fresh basil, if desired.
