Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup vodka
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. If desired, heat olive oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent (about 3-5 minutes), then stir in minced garlic for an additional minute until fragrant.
  2. In the slow cooker, add crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, vodka, cooked onions and garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stir the mixture until well combined.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.
  6. Serve over cooked pasta, garnished with fresh basil, if desired.
