Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp liquid smoke
- 3.5 lb beef brisket (flat cut)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Pat the brisket dry with paper towels and generously massage the dry rub (brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt) into all sides of the meat.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket for 3–5 minutes per side until a deep, mahogany-colored crust forms.
- Whisk together the beef broth, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke in the bottom of the crockpot.
- Place the seared brisket into the crockpot, fat-side up.
- Cover and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours until the meat is tender and pulls apart easily.
- Remove the brisket and apply the BBQ sauce as a final glaze before serving.
