Ingredients:

  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, skin on or off (about 170g each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons honey (45 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (30 ml), low sodium recommended
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (15 ml)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (5 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh green onions (scallions), for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil (optional). Place salmon fillets on the baking sheet and pat dry with paper towels. Drizzle with olive oil, then season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes (if using), and sesame oil.
  3. Brush the honey-garlic glaze evenly over the salmon fillets. Be generous!
  4. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
  5. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds (optional). Serve immediately.
