Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lbs (680g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 1 (28 ounce/794g) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons Ouzo
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup (15g) chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
  • 4 ounces (115g) feta cheese, crumbled

Instructions:

  1. Peel and devein the shrimp. Chop the onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Measure out all other ingredients.
  2. Heat olive oil in the skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and bell pepper and cook for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and white wine. Stir in the oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Gently stir in the shrimp and Ouzo. Cook until the shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 3-5 minutes, depending on their size. Be careful not to overcook them.
  5. Remove from heat. Sprinkle with crumbled feta cheese and fresh parsley. Serve immediately.
