Ingredients:

  • 1 package (12 rolls) King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 6 oz (170 g) thinly sliced smoked deli ham
  • 6 oz (170 g) thinly sliced Swiss cheese or Gruyère
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) mayonnaise (optional, for spreading)
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 115 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp (10 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp (5 ml) garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) dried minced onion
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) poppy seeds
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Using a serrated knife, slice the entire block of rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected. Place the bottom half into the prepared baking dish. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise (if using) onto the base.
  3. Layer the ham evenly over the bottom rolls, followed by the slices of Swiss or Gruyère cheese, ensuring coverage to the edges. Gently place the top half of the rolls back over the cheese.
  4. Melt the ½ cup of unsalted butter. Remove from heat and whisk in the Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, dried minced onion, black pepper, and poppy seeds until thoroughly combined.
  5. Using a pastry brush, carefully brush about ⅓ of the sauce evenly over the tops of the rolls. Pour the remaining butter sauce over the tops and into the cracks between the individual rolls.
  6. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminium foil. Allow the rolls to rest for 5–10 minutes to absorb the sauce.
  7. Bake the covered sliders for 15 minutes to melt the cheese and warm the center.
  8. Remove the foil and return the dish to the oven for an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the tops are gloriously golden brown and slightly crisp.
  9. Remove from the oven, sprinkle lightly with flaky sea salt (if using), and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving while hot.
