Home Cooking for Weeknights, Weekends and Everything In Between

Crock Recipes started around the slow cooker, and that is still a big part of the site. But the kitchen does not stop at the crock: you will also find sheet-pan dinners, air fryer recipes, stovetop pots, oven bakes, no-bake desserts and make-ahead breakfasts. The aim is simple: give you a clear recipe you can follow on a busy day, with enough detail to adjust it to your kitchen.

What You Can Cook Here

Recipes are grouped into ten categories, so you can start from the kind of meal you need rather than from a single appliance.

  • Comfort Food Classics is the largest group: casseroles, meatballs, gravies and baked dishes such as Italian Meatballs or Perfectly Golden Oven Roasted Vegetables.
  • Desserts & Sweet Treats covers cookies, muffins, pies and cupcakes, from Berry Bliss No-Bake Jello Pie to Raisin Bran Muffins.
  • Quick & Easy Meals collects dinners built for short evenings, like Cheesy Shrimp Pasta or Braised Leeks and Peas in 30 Minutes.
  • Slow Cooker Favorites holds the set-it-and-leave-it recipes, such as Crock Pot Pinto Beans, Cowboy Style (No Soak!).
  • Healthy & Wholesome leans on vegetables, beans, lean proteins and lighter versions of familiar dishes.
  • Family-Friendly Dishes focuses on meals that work for a mixed table, including pickier eaters.
  • Global Flavors includes dishes like Bibimbap and Chicken Cumin Curry.
  • Seasonal Recipes follows the calendar, from summer salads to holiday baking.
  • Vegetarian Delights offers meatless mains and sides.
  • Meal Prep & Planning gathers recipes that hold up well for the week ahead.

How Recipes Are Prepared

Each recipe is developed and edited for clarity before it is published. The editing looks at whether the steps follow a logical order, whether times and temperatures are realistic, which ingredients can be swapped, and whether the food-safety notes are in place.

Our authors, Chef Maya, Emma Clarke, Lucas Bennett and Mia Torres, each focus on a particular style, from simple crockpot cooking to plant-based meals, comfort classics and global street food, so recipes within a category tend to share a consistent voice.

Treat any recipe as a well-organized starting point. Ovens run hot or cool, slow cookers differ between brands, and ingredients vary in size and moisture, so your own judgement in the kitchen always counts.

Practical Tips for Getting Good Results

Substitutions

Swap like for like: chicken thighs for breasts (and add a little cooking time), Greek yogurt for sour cream, vegetable broth for chicken broth in vegetarian versions. Keep the amount of liquid roughly the same, and be cautious with swaps in baking, where flour, sugar and fat do structural work.

Timing

Slow cooker times are ranges, not exact figures. Start checking near the low end, especially with smaller cuts and vegetables that turn soft quickly. If a dish is watery at the end, remove the lid for the last stretch or simmer the sauce separately to thicken it.

Storage and Reheating

Cool leftovers promptly and refrigerate them within two hours of cooking, in shallow containers so they chill evenly. Most cooked dishes keep three to four days in the refrigerator, and many soups, stews and casseroles freeze well. Reheat until steaming hot throughout.

Food Safety Basics

  • Use a food thermometer: poultry is safe at 165°F (74°C), ground meat at 160°F (71°C), and whole cuts of beef at 145°F (63°C).
  • Thaw meat in the refrigerator before it goes into a slow cooker, rather than cooking it frozen.
  • Soak and cook dried kidney beans properly before eating; undercooked kidney beans can make you ill.
  • Check labels and ingredient lists for allergens, especially when swapping packaged products such as broth, sauces or spice blends.

Finding What You Need

Besides the categories, the site has themed collections that group recipes around one idea, for example easy summer crockpot recipes, chicken thigh dinners, creamy pasta, soups for cozy dinners or compound butters. They are a quick way to plan several meals around a single ingredient you already have.

Questions, corrections or suggestions are welcome through the contact page, and you can read more about the site on the About Us page. If you try a recipe, leave a rating or comment: notes about timing, substitutions and your own adjustments help the next cook.
